A trail of cash and cigarettes — that’s what Seattle police say a violent armed robber left behind, after hitting the 7-11 store that’s across from Magnuson Park on Sand Point Way, early Tuesday morning.

Those two bags he’s carrying are full of cigarettes he made the clerk bag up for him, after detectives say he pistol-whipped the clerk told him he couldn’t open the safe.

The robber took all the smokes, the cash from the register — even the clerk’s wallet — then pistol-whipped him again several times, cutting up his face and head that required stitches.

Detectives say the robber took off south on Sand Point Way, dropping cigarettes, cash, and the clerk’s wallet in several different spots. A K9 unit hit the scene, but lost the scent across the street at the Sand Point Community Housing complex inside Magnuson Park.
