Attempted child abduction reported near Children's Hospital

SEATTLE -- Police confirmed that a woman was reported to have attempted to abduct a child near the Seattle Children's Hospital about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Detective Renee Witt said that hospital security and a hospital volunteer were called when a grandfather and his grandson were approached by a woman who tried to grab the child. They ran into the hospital for safety and security kicked the female suspect off the grounds.

Police are now trying to locate the suspect. The supsect has been described as a 21-year-old black female, 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. She was wearing a gray beanie hat and windbreaker, blue jeans and running shoes.

The grandfather told the 911 dispatcher that the woman appeared to be high when she attempted to grab the child.
