Police: Innocent bystander shot in Everett

SEATTLE -- A man was shot early Sunday morning following gunfire in downtown Everett, said Everett police officer Aaron Snell.

The man shot was in front of Tailgator Joe's sports bar and dance club in the 1800 block of Hewitt Avenue just before 2 a.m.

Snell said an argument broke out, shots were fired, and one of the bullets ricocheted and hit an innocent bystander.

The victim is believed to be in his 20s and was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

The injuries to not appear to be life-threatening and the man is expected to survive, Snell said.

Police arrested a suspect near the shooting scene and recovered a weapon, said Snell.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for assault.
