BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- An apparently sick salmon shark was spotted swimming Tuesday morning in Bellingham's Squalicum Harbor, the Bellingham Herald reported. The shark later died.

According to one witness, the shark appeared about 8-feet long and in poor health. A necropsy is scheduled by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to determine what killed the shark.

Salmon sharks live throughout the northern Pacific and often travel into the Sound during yearly salmon runs.
