SHELTON, Wash. -- A rope rescue team from the Mason County Sheriff's Office helped rescue a 70 pound border collie that fell off a cliff while chasing an animal Saturday.

Mason County deputies received a call of a dog that was stuck on a cliff around 4:50 p.m. Saturday about 17 miles north of Shelton in the 700 block of E. Promontory Road. The dog fell 30 feet from the top on the cliff and landed on a ledge almost 100 feet from the ground, officers said.  The dog was in good condition but could not climb up the cliff, officers said.

Deputies from the sheriff's office and firefighters from the Central Mason Fire District responded to the call. The rope team helped rescue the dog, named Tundra, and returned the puppy to his owner.

Tundra was uninjured and happy to see his rescuers, the sheriff's office said.
