Beach reopens at Dash Point Park

TACOMA -- Just in time for the weekend, the beach at Dash Point Park in Tacoma is back open for swimming and wading, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.

It was shut down earlier this week after investigators found high counts of fecal bacteria in the water.  They've been testing it regularly, and yesterday's bacteria counts all came back at safe levels.

They still haven't figured out where the contamination came from, but they suspect a boater may have dumped untreated waste.   When they closed the beach on Monday, the bacteria counts were ten times the level at which they normally close beaches.
