Former Microsoft worker denies rape of cleaning woman

SEATTLE -- The man accused of raping a cleaning woman in his Redmond office at Microsoft in July says he didn't do it.  Vineet Srivastava, 37, pleaded not guilty in a Seattle courtroom Wednesday.

Prosecutors say he asked the custodian to come into his office, then pulled her shirt down and made sexual comments. Then, according to court documents, he started showing her pornographic images on his phone. The victim refused him verbally and tried to leave the office. That's when prosecutors say Srivastava shut the door, slammed her to the floor and raped her.

When she told her supervisor, he didn't believe her and did not report it, but another manager ended up calling police. King County Sheriff's detectives say there were visible bruises on the woman's arms consistent with a struggle. She was examined at the hospital the next day and picked Srivastava out of a police lineup.

He claims she was the aggressor and demanded sex with him against his wishes. He has been released on a $75,000 bond.

Microsoft spokesman Lou Gellos says the former senior programming manager has been terminated.
