Dry brush fuels fire in Tacoma

SEATTLE -- A fast moving fire fueled by dry brush kept fire crews busy Monday afternoon.

The first firefighters on scene found an approximately 250 x 350 brush fire burning in tall grass, scotch broom and trees behind the Salishan neighborhood and Lister Elementary on Tacoma's east side.

Crews gained the upper hand on the fire by using a natural fire break from an old road, and doused the flames using the desk gun on the fire engine as well as hand-lines.

There were no injuries or buildings damaged.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
