Child falls from truck, dad arrested for DUI

SEATTLE -- A 10 year old boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after falling out of the back of moving truck Sunday night, said Lt. Rob Palmer of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happened around 7 p.m. in the 30600 block of 171st Avenue Northeast in Arlington.

Palmer said the 10 year old boy had fallen from the bed of a moving pick-up truck.

The child suffered serious head injuries that are considered to be life-threatening, said Palmer.

The boy's father was arrested for Investigation of Driving Under the Alcohol and/or Drugs.

"While there is a possible connection to driver impairment in this particular case, we want to remind everyone that under almost all circumstances it is unlawful for passengers to ride outside of a vehicle. Passengers, especially children, should always be in seats with proper seat-belts in use," said Palmer.
