Norovirus confirmed at Camp Seymour

campGIG HARBOR — The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department confirmed Tuesday that Norovirus sickened campers and staff at Camp Seymour in Gig Harbor.

Illness spread throughout 66 campers and 14 staff at the YMCA Camp last week.

Parents of campers were notified and asked to pick up their children last Thursday and then camp closed.

Families are being given one of three options for reimbursement:

  •  Campers may attend week eight of camp, free of charge August 18-24
  •  Families may receive a credit to be used towards next summer
  •  Families can received a refund back in the form paid for camp

The entire camp was sanitized, and plans to reopen Sunday, August 11th for both overnight and day camp.
