SEATTLE -- The "Tim Eyman Memorial Bridge" could soon become a reality.

According to the Everett Herald, a Bothell man has filed an initiative to name the repaired span after the anti-tax guru.

The newspaper said Nicholas Santos filed the measure with the legislature to designate the bridge as the Tim Eyman Memorial Bridge, "dedicated to the efforts of Tim Eyman to reduce Washington State tax revenues and the collapse of the Skagit River Bridge on May 23, 2013."

Santos tells the newspaper he got the idea after seeing a picture and meme by Northwest Progressive Institute. The group is a political think tank that has opposed all of Eyman's measures.

Santos must now collect and turn in at least 246,372 signatures of registered voters by Jan. 3.

If he does, the measure will be sent to Olympia where lawmakers can decide to enact it or do nothing, which would result in it being sent to the November ballot.

"It's always so silly when opponents of our initiatives attack me personally, as if I have tremendous power. I don't," Eyman wrote in an email to the Herald. "I have a great team who works super hard each year to give voters a greater voice in their government. Regarding our initiatives, some pass, some don't, but all of them give the average taxpayer an equal voice in the process and that's something I'm very proud of."
