Get rid of those old, unwanted cell phones and computers

SEATTLE - Do you have an old computer or cell phone lying around your house you don't know what to do with?  Well, you can get rid of it today at a free electronics recycling event in Seattle.

Virgina Mason Hospital is hosting the e-recyling event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today in partnership with Friendly Earth, which provides e-recycling serves in the city.

The public is invited to take their unwanted phones, laptops, and other electronics to the Virginia Mason Farmers Market at Seneca Street and Terry Avenue, where they'll be disposed of properly.

Cellphones and small electronics should be recycled because they usually contain toxic substances.

Seattle Public Utilities will also have a booth at the market, providing information about their recycling and hazardous waste disposal program.
