Panting dog, sweatpants-wearing pig found in poop-filled car

SEATTLE -- Police officers in Magnolia got a rare glimpse at life in the circus Saturday when they found a panting dog and a sweatpants-wearing pig stranded in a hot Magnolia car.

According to the Seattle Police Department, dispatchers received a call around 9 p.m. June 29 about animals stranded in a vehicle. Officers arriving on the scene found a panting dog and a pot bellied pig dressed in sweatpants trapped in a hot car. The animals appeared dehydrated and did not have access to food and water. Feces crowded the vehicle, police said. Also, officers found the car keys still in the ignition.

Luckily, the door was unlocked and the officers were able to free the pets. Officers gave the animals fresh water and looked for the owner, who they later found in a nearby bar. The officers allegedly confronted the man about leaving his animals in the car without food or water on a hot day. The man allegedly grew agitated and followed the officers to his vehicle, where he reluctantly agreed to take better care of his animals.

The man was not cited, but officers ensured the animals were safe and reminded the owner not to leave his pets in an confined space. The case is slated to be turned over to Renton Animal Control.
