SEATTLE -- Police reported that the victim of a carjacking in Wallingford was struck by her own vehicle when she tried to stop the thief from getting away.

A Wallingford woman told police that as she was packing her car about 8:40 p.m Tuesday, she heard her car's engine start. A woman had climbed into the victim's Subaru and started the car. The victim then started hitting the hood and yelling at the suspect in an attempt to get her to stop and tried to hold on to the car by grabbing the hood. Instead of stopping, the suspect sped up and drove over the victim's leg when she fell from the hood of the car.

The incident happened near 2nd Avenue NE and NE 42nd Street. The victim was transported to UW Medical Center for treatment.

The victim described the suspect as heavyset, in her late teens to early 20s with curly black hair and wearing a brightly colored sweatshirt.

Detectives are looking for the victim's car, which is described as a blue 2013 Subaru with Alaska plates. The victim said her car had electronics, credit cards and salmon and moose meat inside it.
