33-year-old Olympia woman killed in head-on crash

SHELTON -- A 33-year-old motorcyclist was killed on State Route 101 Wednesday when an oncoming car attempted to pass another vehicle on the two-lane road and collided head-on with the motorcycle, the Washington State Patrol said.

The motorcyclist, a woman from Olympia, was not immediately identified. She had a helmet on, but died at the scene.

The State Patrol said a Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling southbound on SR 101 just south of Wallace Kneeland Boulevard and the motorcycle was traveling northbound. The car passed another southbound vehicle on the two-lane road and collided head-on with the motorcyclist, the State Patrol said.

The accident was under investigation.
