police tapeSEATTLE – Guests at a South Lake Union hotel got a rude awakening Monday morning, when a bullet was fired through the wall of their room.

Just after 2 a.m., a man and his family woke up after hearing a loud bang in their fifth floor hotel room. The man found a bullet on the floor near his daughter’s bed and alerted the hotel manager and called 911.

Officers believe the bullet had been fired through the wall of a neighboring room, which had been rented out to a group of teenagers earlier in the evening.

Officers found that a teenage male had been carrying a gun, and at some point the gun went off inside the teen’s room.  The teen with the gun and another female took off shortly after the incident.

Two remaining teens were interviewed and released.

Police said no one appeared to have been injured in the shooting.
