Federal Way fisherman found dead on Washington coast

MONTESANO -- Grays Harbor County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the death of a Federal Way fisherman after his body was found Sunday near Copalis Beach.

The Aberdeen Daily World reports the 65-year-old man was first spotted by a beachcomber, who noticed a body floating in the waves around 4:30 p.m.

Authorities have identified the man as Antonio D. Inocencio and have notified his family of his death.

Family members say he had planned to go surf fishing with a friend, a 58-year-old Federal Way man.

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a helicopter search for the second man, but didn’t find him.  Eventually, King County sheriff’s deputies found him in Seattle and found out he didn’t go on the fishing trip.

Authorities believe Inocencio was knocked down by a wave and unable to stand up when his chest waders filled with water.
