Hiker goes over Snohomish County waterfall, survives

SNOHOMISH COUNTY -- A twenty-three year old man from Monroe, Washington, was rescued Friday afternoon after slipping and falling at Wallace Falls along the Skykomish River.   The man fell about 45 feet down the one of the waterfalls before he was able to stop and get on top of some rocks in the river.

Once firefighters reached the man, they put him in a special suit for a helicopter rescue.  Crews hauled him out, and to a nearby fire station where he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The area where the rescue happened is in the middle of the lower falls, not the main long falls area.

It's unclear what caused the hiker to slip.
