08_Seattle, WASEATTLE – Tell your friends, if they visit the Emerald City, they better pack some green. TripAdvisor says Seattle is the nation’s eighth most expensive city for summer travel. It estimates the cost of an average hotel room in downtown will run over $300. Add cab fare, dinner and drinks for two, and you’re looking at another $100 on top of that.

Honolulu is the most expensive city for summer travel in the U.S., with an average night costing around $500. Las Vegas was the cheapest place to visit this summer at almost $300 a night. Based on the numbers, visitors could stay in Las Vegas for three nights, and pay the same as one night in Hawaii, as long as they stay away from the gaming tables.

Internationally, Oslo was the most expensive city to visit. A hotel room, cab fare, dinner and drinks would run at least $580 a night. Sofia, Bulgaria is the cheapest, with costs a little over $150.

Those wonderful taxes created by the Liberals are driving tourists away. Most people can't afford the progressive budgets and go else where to get more bang for the buck.

A bigger problem is the proliferation of street people begging for money around tourist attractions like the Pike Place Market. Who likes getting accosted after a symphony concert or museum visit? The police need to sweep the streets clean of the riff-raff.

Not only are TAXES too high in Seattle, (and most everything else – especially bad coffee) the City also issues parking tickets on holidays in areas that are clearly marked "free on Sunday and holidays." My Ukrainian friends came to visit during Memorial Day over 5 years ago and after spending several hundred dollars at the Space Needle and even more money in the Belltown area, we returned to our vehicle. When my friends saw a parking ticket had been issued on a holiday, they said "we see that Seattle is just as corrupt as most Russian cities." Needless to say, it's been more than 5 years and they have never been back to Seattle. They prefer Cannon Beach, Oregon now.
