'Let he who is without sin' -- mom, son arrested for throwing rocks

SULTAN, Wash. -- Listening to his mother's advice may have landed a Sultan man behind bars, the Everett Herald reported.

A 22-year-old man is accused of throwing a softball-sized rock at his mom's former boyfriend, allegedly at her command.

A witness reported to police that he saw the woman hand her son a large rock and told him to "hit that (expletive)," the Herald reported around 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Stevens Avenue in Sultan. The rock missed his intended target, but came within inches of hitting one of the 59-year-old man's elementary school-aged granddaughters. The victim also said the son punched him in the back of the head.

The mother was arrested the day before for investigation of misdemeanor domestic violence assault directed at the same man.

The mother, 52, and son were arrested on suspicion of attempted assault, the Herald reported. The mother at first denied giving her son the rock, but then later apologized for lying.
