Memorial service set for trooper killed on duty

EVERETT, Wash -- A memorial service for a Washington State Patrol trooper killed in a traffic crash is set for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Comcast Arena in Everett.

Trooper Sean O'Connell was directing traffic around the collapsed I-5 bridge in Skagit County Friday when he was thrown from his motorcycle after colliding with a truck. He was rushed to Skagit Valley Hospital where he died.

The 16-year veteran is survived by his wife and two young children.

Thousands are expected to attend the memorial. Authorities expect traffic delays in the area.
