Twins edge out Mariners in the 9th





Minneapolis, MN --- The Mariners lost a close one in the bottom of the 9th inning today, while visiting the Minnesota Twins.

The Mariners started out hot with two back to back solo home runs in the 1st inning by Jason Bay and Kyle Seager.

After the Twins scored runs in the 2nd and 6th inning, Jason Bay was back for more. In the top of 7th, Bay hit his second solo home run of the game, and 8th HR overall of the season to put the Mariners back up by one. Three batters later, its Raul Ibanez, with the RBI single to deep right scoring Kyle Seager, putting the Mariners up by two runs.

In the bottom of the 9th, with the Mariners up by two runs, Troy Wilhelmson comes into finish the game, but after walking the first three batters and with the bases loaded, Wilhelmson gives up a sacrifice fly to Josh Willingham, scoring Pedro Florimon from 3rd base to cut the lead down to a single run.

Next batter, Ryan Doumitt triples to deep right field scoring Eduardo Escobar and  Joe Maurer giving the Twins the victory over the Mariners with a final score of 5-4.

It is Wilhelmson's 3rd blown save in his last 4 attempts.

The Mariners 24-32, face the Minnesota Twins Sunday at 11:10 A.M to close out the 3 game series.
