Piping hot coffee on the patio, but no smoking

SEATTLE -- Cigarettes and coffee? Forget about it.

Effective June 1, Starbucks stores across the United States and Canada will ban smoking from all outdoor seating areas.

Smokers are banned from lighting up within 25 feet of any company store.

The ban continues Starbucks' commitment to the health and safety of it's employees and customers, Starbucks' Spokeswoman Jaime Riley said. "We always value our customers feedback, and we take seriously our responsibility to provide all customers a safe, healthy environment that is consistent across our company-owned stores," Riley said. "We sincerely thank all customers for their support and cooperation."

In many cities across the country, such as Dallas, individuals were previously allowed to smoke on a patio.  Most stores have signs posted alerting customers to the change in policy.
