Student found unconscious in high school pool

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. -- A student in his 20s was found unconscious at the bottom of a high school pool Friday.

The student was spotted under water around 11:30 a.m. at the Lake Stevens High School pool in the 2900 block of 113th Avenue NE. An aquatics manager at the pool did a head count and noticed one student was missing before she spotted him underwater.

The manager, a certified life guard, carried the student from the pool, performed CPR and reportedly revived him. He was conscious and breathing by the time the firefighters responded to the scene.

The student was taken to Providence Hospital in Everett with life-threatening injuries. His condition was unknown at 12:22 p.m. Friday.

The student's identification has not yet been released. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
