Foster kids and psychiatric medication

SEATTLE- Congressman Jim McDermott, D-Wash., is co-hosting a forum Wednesday afternoon meant to discuss best practices and challenges in the state's foster care system.

The event is part of a nationwide Listening Tour with the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth-- identifying key topics impacting foster care communities across the nation. One key issue will be on psychiatric medication-- its appropriate and inappropriate use with children and youth in foster care. The nationwide tour will visit child welfare organizations in Texas and New York later this summer.

The forum on Washington State's child welfare system takes place at 1:30 p.m. at the University of Washington Center for Urban Horticulture in NHS Hall.
