Music students compete in "hands on" marathon

TACOMA - More than 50 Pierce County music students are planning to spend all night at a Tacoma music store, holding on to a musical instrument case.  What would possess kids 12 to 18 years old to this?  Starting at 6 p.m. Friday night, Ted Brown Music is hosting its 7th annual Hands-On Instrument Contest.  The kids keep their "hands on" a provided instrument case, to see who can hold on longer than their peers.  The last kid standing goes home with a brand new Yamaha band or orchestra instrument.  Last year's winner lasted 29 hours.  The contest will be streamed online at tedbrownmusic.com.
