A school trip that was definitely fishy

SAMMAMISH -- Elementary students helped release several hundred  kokanee salmon fry into Ebright Creek earlier today as part of an effort to return the declining native salmon population to robust health.

King County Exec Dow Constantine, Issaquah Mayor Ava Frisinger and students from Blackwell Elementary School release Kokanee salmon fry into Ebright Creek in Sammamish.

The release celebrates the completion of a culvert project that has tripled the amount of spawning area in Ebright Creek for returning adult fish, and allows the fish passage to Lake Sammamish downstream.
