OLYMPIA — A Thurston County judge found probable cause Wednesday to support an allegation that Tumwater’s former Black Hills High School para-educator Courtney Keller had a sexual relationship with a student, starting when he was 16, The Olympian reported.

Superior Court Judge Chris Wickham also found probable cause to support the accusation that Keller committed first-degree criminal sexual misconduct with the minor, the Olympian said.

Keller, 28, a married mother of a 4-year-old daughter, pleaded not guilty and she was released from jail on her personal recognizance Wednesday.

Keller was arrested Tuesday following a police investigation.

The Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office said Keller began a sexual relationship with the student when he was 16 years old — he is now 18 and he dropped out of school in his senior year  — and that she immediately resigned from her position in February when the allegations were made.

During their investigation, authorities said that the relationship began during the 2010-2011 school year when the victim was a sophomore and that it continued for two years, ending during the 2012-2013 school year when the victim was a senior.

Citing court papers, The Olympian said the 18-year-old told police that “the entire school knew about his relationship with Keller.”

According to The Olympian, the court papers said:

The former student told police that the two began flirting, then “making out” and touching, all during his sophomore year in high school, when he was 16. Starting during his junior year, he said she began providing him “with tobacco and pain killers,” including Vicodin and Percoset.

They also began having sex his junior year, the young man told police. He said that Keller once attended a party with him at another student’s home. He said that two students walked in on him having sex with Keller during the party.

He said the relationship ended because Keller was falling in love, and she wanted to leave her husband and move in with him when he turned 18. The young man told police he was “really freaked” by this proposal.

When police interviewed the 18-year-old’s mother, she said that she thought it was odd he was spending so much time in detention without being referred there. Keller’s duties included supervising detention.

Why on the commercial break news update you would call it an affair? If it had been a man it would have never been called an affair.

Now just watch, this woman will get off with a wrist slap, divorce her husband and then be awarded custody of the four-year-old daughter. The poor husband will have to pay alimony and child support to her after she moves the poor little girl in with her and the new 18-year-old boyfriend.

THAT is our WA court system, the kids' well-being needs are the LAST priority, the mother's are the first, numero uno!

I find it hard to believe the boy was a victim. I'm sure he was quite willing. I knew someone many years ago who had an affair in high school with his teacher, and he was remembering it many years later, and bragged about it. I have to say she probably isn't the smartest, because what does a grown woman have in common with a teenage boy. She knew it was against the law, and, she risked getting caught which was pretty much inevitable.

Remember in WA the legal age of consent is 16! I'm not saying what she did was right and can't even imagine how both of them thought they would get away with it after all thats been in the news for last 10+ years one of the most famous was in our own state ( probably not best example since I believe they are actually still together)! Some people are a special kind of STUPID! They both knew better and if not they must have been "short bus kids", and to the mother really you didn't think to check out why he was in "detention" you are "SPECIAL" as well. BE A PARENT!! There should really be a test for becoming a parent, if you fail you are sterilized!

I know the family of the boy very well and this is a classic case of "I TOLD YOU SO'S"! The mother, father, grandmother, (that lives with them) and even uncle are all very self centered and couldn't see past their self if there son's life depended on it! They all believe they are better than everyone else.
The mother divorced the boys step father a couple years ago because she had been having an affair with a man she met at work for quite some time. ( what an example ) Yes they are engaged now so that makes it all ok, NOT!!!
.As for the boys father he is just a drunk and druggie himself so he does not have time to anyone including his son. And well the grandmother, she loves her grand kids but she just laughs everything off and says they are just being kids.
All the classic signs have been right in front of all of them with this child for years. He has been smoking, drinking, and drugging since he was 13 years old. Someone should have done something in the beginning when he was caught stealing large amounts of money and wrecking cars. But in true -insert names- fashion they all ignored the problem and continued to allow the boy the freedom to do as he pleased when he pleased. ( hence the never checking out why he was in dentition without being ordered to go) that is the norm around that household.
What that teacher's aide did was wrong but the parents are responsible just as much. Did anyone else read "attended party ". What kind of mother allows her son to go to drinking and drugging parties anyway? And then calls rape?????? Do I agree with what the staff member did? No but lets face it, the kid was screwed by his own mother first for being to busy having an affair and nurturing and fulfilling her own selfish needs and wants to pay any attention to the fact that her son was going down the wrong path and second this great family has always faulted everyone else for their own choices. It is just to bad that a great teen has been left to fend for himself by "such wonderful examples".
It is almost to late for the now 18 year old boy, but hey lets look at the bright side she still has a 10 year old son to screw up even more.
Shame on you >>>>>> boys family>>>>>> for not listening and thinking you are so much better than everyone else @ the expense of the kids!

I also know this family very well, and nothing in the concerned neighbor's comments are even true! You should get your facts right before you print lies! You should also be ashamed of yourself for trying to get your 15 minutes of fame off something so tragic.
