SEATTLE — Childhood obesity has become an epidemic. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 17 million children in the United States are obese.

Dayle Hayes, a well-known nutrition expert, spoke Tuesday about the healthy changes parents can make to help their kids avoid obesity.
