Weekend will see warmest temps of the year so far

SEATTLE -- Western Washington is heading into the warmest days of the year so far. Seattle hit 65 degrees Friday -- 10 degrees above normal. But the hottest air is yet to come.

High pressure is building into the area as a thermal trough develops on the coast. That trough will act like a mild “heat pump” and release warmer air into the state.

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid and upper 60s Saturday, then near 70 on Sunday.

By Monday, onshore flow returns to the state, cooling temps into the low to mid 60s. The temperatures will slowly return to cooler daytime highs next week.
