Holiday heist: Trailers found in massive Nintendo theft

The King County Sheriff's Office says Seatac detectives said that two trailers and a box truck that were reported stolen from Seatac on December 16th and were loaded with 7,000 WII-U game consoles -- have been recovered empty. On December 19th, the box truck was located in Fife parked near a warehouse. The business logos had been removed from the truck. On December 30th one of the trailers was recovered in Auburn near 277th and D St. The logos and Vin# had been covered with white paint. Additionally, “S.S. Trans” was painted on the front of the trailer. The remaining trailer was located on January 2nd near Carson, California. The trailer’s logo had also been covered with white paint and marked with “S.S. Trans.” SeaTac detectives are working with the Los Angeles based “Cargo Theft Task Force” on the case. Detectives said that the reward in the case has also been increased to $10,000 thanks to donations from private businesses. Police are still looking for the consoles – as well as the thieves -- and the reward has been increased to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever stole the 7,000 Nintendo game systems. More than $2 million worth of Wii U's were ripped off Dec. 16 at Seattle Air Cargo. Authorities said the suspects used forklifts to load up two trailers and a van with more than 60 pallets of the games. “This is one of those things that happens rarely,” King County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West said. “In 28 years in my career, I can't remember this happening before. The suspects, two or three of them we imagine, went to this warehouse where they had 64 pallets loaded with 7,000 plus Wii U games. The suspects went to this business during closing time, they brought in a tractor trailer, loaded up two 52-foot trailers full of these pallets and another box truck that the business had, and left with them." The trailers have "McKinney" on the sides.
