Sex Offender Search: WMW viewer tip helps catch David Bethel; Durwin Brooks also arrested

tricity sex offenders1FUGITIVE CAPTURED Dec. 28th, 2012 --The Department of Corrections says Durwin Brooks was arrested by local law enforcement in the Tri-Cities, on his DOC warrant and a new felony charge of Failure to Register as a sex offender in Benton County. FUGITIVE CAPTURED Dec. 19, 2012**DAVID BETHEL CAUGHT** Tri Cities Crime Stoppers took a Washington’s Most Wanted viewer tip this morning on fugitive David Bethel.  He’s a high-violent offender featured on Washington’s Most Wanted on My FOX Tri-CITIES (KFFX FOX 11 TV) Saturday night.  He was wanted for Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  He’s known for his aggression towards law enforcement. Crime Stoppers passed on the information on Bethel’s location to the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force.  Officers say after some surveillance, Bethel left the residence and they followed him to a truck stop.  When Bethel realized they were about to grab him he took off in his Cadillac and headed back home where he was stopped. He is in Benton County Jail on the Escape from Community Custody  and  a new charge of Felony Attempting to Elude. He is the 353rd fugitive captured thanks to our viewers and partnerships with law enforcement and Crime Stoppers programs statewide. Durwin Brooks is still wanted. WANTED IN BENTON COUNTY -- There's a pair of dangerous sex offenders who have gone off the grid in the Tri-City area. Both David Bethel and Durwin Brooks are wanted by the Department of Corrections for Escape. Bethel is a convicted rapist who's also been busted for  indecent exposer. Brooks has been busted for a child sex crime. Officers say both are meth-head who have failed to register as a sex offender, and have massive rap sheets filled with much more than just sex crimes.
