TACOMA- Tacoma police officers shot and killed a 22-year-old woman who pointed a gun at officers and refused their calls to drop the weapon Saturday night, officers said.

Officers were called to a home at 9:37 p.m. in the 3500 block of South Fawcett Avenue. A mother called 911 to report that her daughter fired off several rounds of a gun inside the home, police said, and that she appeared to be suicidal. When police arrived, they tried to negotiate with the 22-year-old, police said, but she refused to communicate. Police said the girl walked down the stairs and pointed her gun at one officer.

The officer shot the woman. She was transported to a Tacoma area hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Tacoma officer was placed on administrative leave. Police are investigating the incident.

no substance, She also didn't point the gun at the officer or charge him. the story that has been told here is a cover up. I spoke to the mother that was present while this took place, she was shocked to find that what is being reported isnt' the truth. Her mother is a very soft spoken women.

Its to bad that it didn't have to happen for the officer that shot her had not reason too other than over reacting, she never pointed the gun at him nor charged at him, he wasnt even suppose to speak with her until a trained officer that deals in these situations spoke with her. She didn't have a mean bone in her body, sad

I met this girl and she is amazing and she didn't appear to take drugs. She was a very good girl and loved animals. I don't know what had taken place but she will be missed.

Just spoke with the mother of this girl, she did not charge at the police officer pointing the gun at him, the officer wasn't even suppose to speak with her there was another officer trained in dealing in such situations, but unfortunatley he came after the officer shot her to death. This didn't have to happen, the took the mother to the station and didn't even tell her the condition of her daughter until 1AM and wouldn't allow the mother to call the father about the situation. Can you say cover up, the story reported here is a lie.

why did the officer ask her to come down and he knew that she had a gun, why didn't he follow proceedure, I do hope that this officer that shot her can't sleep at night just like her parents and family

She didn't even have the chance to drop the weapon, he just opened up fire on her, the gun wasn't even pointing at the officer or anybody for that matter.

You were not in the house and neither was her mother. Stop making up lies to stir up the pot. It is very sad that Sophia is dead but you clearly don't know her if you also don't know that she had a heroin problem and was also depressed. It was suicide by cop – and not a rookie cop either. One that gets to go home to his family.
