Man brandishing knives crashes party; partygoers keep him at bay

MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- A man carrying two knives jumped over a fence into a backyard party early Sunday morning in Marysville and was promptly tacked by partygoers, the Marysville Police Department reported.

According to police, dispatchers received a call of a man with blood on his face standing on the front porch of a home at 3:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of 139th Place NE. At the same time, a man carrying two knives jumped over a fence into an adjacent back yard, police said.

The yard was crowded with people at a party. Partygoers held the knife-wielding suspect to the ground until police arrived, officials said.

The suspect and the victim are related and live in a house near the party, police said. The victim, 26, was transported to an Everett hospital with multiple non life-threatening stab wounds.  The 30-year-old suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for first degree assault and domestic violence.

The Marysville Police Department is investigating the incident.
