Traffic woes could hamper weekend plans

SEATTLE -- Drivers should plan for delays southbound on State Route 99 through downtown Seattle over the next two weekends.

For the weekend of Dec. 14, crews will close the right lane of southbound SR 99 between Columbia Street and South Royal Brougham Way and the southbound SR 99 off-ramp to South Atlantic Street from 7 p.m. Dec. 14 to 5 a.m Dec. 17.

For the weekend of Dec. 21, crews will close the right lane of southbound SR 99 between Columbia Street and South Royal Brougham Way and the southbound off-ramp to Atlantic Street from 7 p.m. Dec. 21 to Dec. 24.

Drivers should plan for increased congestion in and near downtown Seattle, officials said.

Two lanes of southbound Interstate 5 at Federal Way will also be closed for the weekend. The carpool lane and the left traffic lane of I-5 near Enchanted parkway will be shut for repairs.
