Bum-mer: Officer accidentally shoots himself in the buttocks

SHORELINE– An undercover detective accidentally shot himself in the buttocks Thursday morning in Shoreline while attempting to holster his weapon, according to the Mercer Island Police Department.

The detective was assigned to the Eastside Narcotics Task Force and was serving a search warrant around 10 a.m. near North 192 and Stone Avenue in Shoreline, officials said. The detective swept the residence and was attempting to holster his gun when the weapon went off.

The detective, a 7-year veteran of the Mercer Island Police Department, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

    How about we not have drug dealers who's houses need to be raided, so they don't even need to use their weapons? Perspective,and respect, people. Remember that these folks are protecting us. They don't need to be ridiculed.

    There is no manual safety on a Glock. That is the pistol he was most likely carrying. Probably got his clothes in the was already said…way to go genious.

    As for ridicule….they are supposed to be trained in the safe handling of firearms. He should be held to as high or higher of a standard as Joe Blow gun owner. What if he shot another officer due to his negligence? Yes, its negligence what he did. Would you still say the same thing? How about that bullet bounces off a rock and hits your kid….still feel the same?
