Kelly O’Connell

Kelly O’Connell

I joined the Q13 FOX News team in September 2012 and I’m excited to wake up extra early to make sure you’re ready for the day. Before coming to Seattle, I spent three years as an anchor and reporter at KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where I reported on everything from tornadoes and dam collapses to the Iowa Caucus. My first job in TV took me to Columbus, Ga., where I worked for WRBL-TV.

I’m originally from St. Paul, Minn., and a proud alum of the University of Minnesota. That said, I’m happy to trade in the snow for the rain and adopting Seattle’s sports teams like the Seahawks and Sounders.

I’m known around the newsroom for

My Velcro rollers.  I take a lesson from the ladies of the ‘50s to give my hair an extra boost in the morning.

What keeps me going

Caffeine — in any form.

My greatest TV moment…

Riding in a WWII biplane over the cornfields of Iowa and telling the story of two friends who wanted to bring history back to life for younger generations.

TV moment I’d like to forget

Riding on a Chinook Military Chopper with the National Guard. While the experience was something I will never forget and would never take back, my stomach would not agree — I didn’t feel too well for the next few days.

If I had free time, I would…

Explore new places and travel and I would love to learn how to cook.
