Erin Mayovsky

erin mayovskyI love Seattle and its beauty — there’s just something about the fresh, clean, crisp air that keeps me here. Maybe that’s why I also love forecasting our region’s weather, even if it often means getting up in the wee hours of the morning sometimes.

I’ve been forecasting in the Northwest for more than a decade and I’m still fascinated by the ever-changing, crazy weather our area throws at us.

When I’m not anchoring the weather I’m chasing down the day’s top sports stories as they develop, from the Seahawks and Huskies to the Mariners and Sounders FC.  And by the way, traveling the country covering these games is amazing!  Although — I must say — touching back down at home is always a breath of fresh air.

My favorite things to do outside of work are spend time with my sweet family and play soccer.  I’ve been a dedicated, competitive athlete all my life. I grew up playing soccer at the top levels in Washington State and traveled the country for tournaments. My high school teams were state champions, which lead me straight to the intercollegiate women’s soccer program at the University of Washington.  Go Dawgs!

I truly feel blessed with my career. I’ve managed to base most of my work close to home here in Seattle, although my first TV job took me to eastern Washington’s NBC station, KNDO. Like many other seasoned journalists, I’ve had the good fortune to work at other Seattle area stations, including NWCN, KING 5, KSTW, KIRO 7 and even UW TV, as well as hosting several local and national programs.

I hope to see you around town and don’t forget to stay connected! Send me your comments or ideas at:, @erinmayovsky or on Facebook.
