Cops: Several hurt in Renton crash after man assaults park employee, flees

RENTON, Wash. -- Police arrested a man accused of assaulting a park employee, fleeing the scene and crashing near the Boeing plant.

Renton police said there were several investigation scenes Monday morning after a wild series of events.

The first was at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park where police say a park employee was assaulted. That employee then called 911 and police caught up with the suspect a short distance away from the park.

Police said the truck entered an inspection area at the Boeing Renton facility, hitting a security guard and a box truck with a driver inside. Both people were injured, and the security guard was listed in critical condition.

The suspect then continued driving, crashing into a gate at the Boeing facility near N. 7th Street and Logan Avenue N.

Officers apprehended the suspect using stun guns.

Police said they would remain at the scene near the Boeing plant for several hours.
