26-year-old Redmond woman accused of killing her wife days ago in their apartment

REDMOND, Wash. -- Redmond police said they arrested a 26-year-old woman Wednesday who they believe killed her wife in the couple's Redmond apartment.

The suspect's 26-year-old wife was found dead Tuesday night in the bedroom of the couple's apartment. Police said initial evidence suggests she had been dead for several days.

"The official cause of death has not been determined but there was severe trauma to the victim's body," the Redmond police news release said.

The woman's body was found initially by the couple's roommate, who went to check on the couple after he hadn't heard from them in a few days, police said.

Detectives searched for the deceased woman's wife and arrested without incident Wednesday as she was getting off a bus in Redmond, police said. She was booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of homicide.

She is not being identified because she has not been formally charged yet.

The identity of the victim will be released after her family is notified.

"The investigation is far from complete, but everything indicates this was a tragic domestic violence incident and there was no danger to the public," Redmond Police Lt. Tim Gately said.
