Remains found near Tulalip Casino identified as 37-year-old man reported missing 3 years ago

TULALIP, Wash. – Remains found Sunday in a wooded area near Tulalip Resort Casino have been identified as that of Shawn Bond, 37, who was reported missing by his family in July 2015, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

The remains were recovered near the 9900 block of 27th Avenue NE.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner on Tuesday positively identified those remains as Bond. The sheriff's office said Bond was transient and suffered from untreated mental health issues and drug addiction.

The cause and manner of his death are pending from the Medical Examiner.

The remains were found on Sunday as crews scoured the 700-acre wooded area behind Tulalip Resort Casino in hopes of finding another man -- 24-year-old Jacob Hilkin.

Hilkin was last seen January 23 leaving the casino.

Investigators said they didn't look for him sooner because there were no signs of foul play.
