83-year-old driver killed in two-vehicle crash in Kent

KENT, Wash. --  An 83-year-old Kent man was killed and a 70-year-old  Federal Way woman was injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday in the area of West Meeker Street and Washington Avenue North, police said.

"Preliminary information suggests that one of the vehicles was traveling eastbound on W. Meeker St and collided with the other vehicle that had been westbound on Meeker St, making a left turn to go south on Washington Ave N," the police said in a news release. "There are indications that speed may have been a contributing factor to this collision."

The collision occurred at about 11:23 a.m., police said.

The identity of the dead driver was not being immediately released. The injured woman was taken to a local hospital "with unknown injuries," police said.
