2 killed in wrong-way crash on SR 18 in Maple Valley



UPDATE: 

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man seriously hurt in a wrong-way crash last week on State Route 18 in Maple Valley has died.

Washington State Patrol troopers said an Acura was going east late Wednesday night on State Route 18 when it drove into the westbound lane and hit a truck. Family members have identified the man in the truck as Cody Morris. He died from his injuries over the weekend.

The passenger in the Acura, a 28-year-old Seattle man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Acura, a 27-year-old Auburn woman, was taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.

Troopers said she will be taken into custody. They said she showed signs of impairment and admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that night.

"The driver was placed in custody for Investigation of Vehicular Homicide and Vehicular Assault," said Trooper Rick Johnson. "A search warrant for blood was applied for and granted. She will be booked into the King County Jail upon her release from Harborview Medical Center."

The highway was closed for hours but has since reopened.
