Seattle police investigating crash that seriously injured 78-year-old pedestrian

SEATTLE -- A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car in south Seattle.

"At approximately 8:40 am, a 35-year-old male driver of a 2004 Lincoln Town Car was traveling eastbound on South Walden Street and began a right turn to proceed southbound on Rainier Avenue South," the Seattle Police Department said in a news release. "At the same time, a 78-year-old woman was crossing Rainier Avenue on foot within a marked crosswalk and was struck by the driver. Seattle Fire medics responded and transported the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
