22-year-old motorcyclist dies on I-5 after crashing into back of car in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A 22-year-old motorcyclist from Aberdeen was killed Friday on Interstate 5 after troopers say the rider hit the back of a car near Berkeley Avenue Southwest.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The deceased motorcyclist was identified as Austin Mullikin.

The State Patrol said the northbound motorcyclist was following too close to the car in front, and when traffic slowed, the bike rider plowed into the car, a 2001 Mini Cooper.

Mullikin died at the scene. Firefighters and medics responded but were unable to save the rider.
