NORTH BEND, Wash. -- Two back-to-back crashes snarled holiday travel for those heading east over the Cascades on Friday.

WSDOT said around 10:45 a.m., several vehicles collided, forcing authorities to close the two left lanes for nearly an hour. Traffic was backed up for several miles.

Earlier Friday morning, all lanes of eastbound Interstate 90 were blocked after two rigs collided sending lumber across the road.

Around 6:00 a.m., a front loader had arrived at the scene to begin clearing the lumber. The road reopened around 9:20 a.m.

A lot of traffic is expected as we head into Memorial Day weekend. Plus extra traffic is expected heading toward the Gorge for the Sasquatch Music Festival.
