Wintry weather makes travel tough through Tuesday
Areas of wet snow for Olympia, Shelton, and closer to the Cascade foothills will change to all rain, (by 7 a.m.) most areas are getting a round of rain. Steady rain will break in the afternoon before the next storm this evening. Rain will increase and wind will too through overnight into Tuesday.
This morning a wind advisory remains in effect around parts of Puget Sound and Kitsap for gusts to 45mph. The high tide coupled with wind will bring waves up to 5 feet. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for Puget Sound coastlines 2 hours before and after the high tide occurring between 8 and 9 am.
The Cascades will be receiving 5 to 10 inches of new snow today, A Winter Weather Advisory plus an Avalanche Warning are impacting the range including all mountain Passes. Once east of the Cascades, a Winter Storm Warning across the valleys of northern Cascades tells of 1-4 inches of snow… plus tonight, up to a foot possible with localized ice. Leavenworth to Winthrop will be impacted especially overnight into Tuesday morning.
A winter weather advisory is covering areas of Wenatchee to Yakima and also further east. These areas are at risk for local ice accumulations with the snow late tonight.
