OAK HARBOR, Wash. – A mother and her two young children died in a house fire in Oak Harbor on Sunday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies said.

The 25-year-old mother was at home with her 3-year-old and 5-year-old when the fire broke out. The children’s father wasn’t home at the time, but investigators said he is cooperating with them.

The fire happened at about 4:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of DeGraff Road.

Island County sheriff’s detective Ed Wallace said the fire is still under investigation, and there’s no word yet on what might’ve started it.
