High Wind Warning issued for parts of northwest Washington

SEATTLE -- The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Puget Sound regions of Jefferson, Clallam, San Juan and Island counties from 4 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

NWS said there will be west winds of 25 to 40 mph, with local gusts from 50 to 60 mph. The strongest winds are expected to be along the shorelines close to the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

It said the likeliest impacts are snapped tree limbs and localized power outages.

"A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring," the NWS said. "Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage."
