Lynnwood officer fatally shoots man during struggle, police say

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a Lynnwood police officer fatally shot a man after he reportedly tried to grab an officer's gun during a struggle in Everett.

A spokeswoman for the Snohomish County team that investigates police use of deadly force says the 44-year-old man died at the scene late Saturday. Shari Ireton says Lynnwood officers were looking for the man in connection with a domestic violence incident hours earlier where the man reportedly made threats to kill his girlfriend.

The Daily Herald reports that officers went to the man's home but he fled. He was later spotted by Lynnwood officers.

Authorities say he struggled with officers and tried to grab an officer's gun when he was shot.

The officer who shot the man has been with the department for four years.

No other information was released about the man who died.
